The RVC aims to make a positive impact on the mental health in Kansas communities, families and schools. Together, we can ensure the best mental health access to care for all who need it.
Our Reimagine Mental Health Campaign offers the opportunity for people and communities to unite to improve mental health in Kansas. . If you believe in the continued improvement of mental health in Kansas communities, families and schools then The Rural Vitality Center deserves your support.
There’s been a call to action in mental health literature and among professionals to improve the quality of our care delivery. The RVC believes this best starts with implementing a mental health data delivery model that:
Data delivery will become increasingly important in the upcoming years to ensure higher quality of care and both clinical and financial outcomes for all stakeholders. The RVC provides a data ecosystem with eight assessment tools that provides longitudinal data and long-term support.
In 2022 Kansas ranked 51st in the country in youth substance use disorder and 48th out of 51st in adults with a mental health illness. Kansas also ranked 48th in the category of access to care. The RVC ensures all Kansans access to our integrated services to provide a long term sustainable support system that will offer hope to those in need. We must do better- WE CAN DO BETTER!
The Rural Vitality Center Will Break Down Barriers!
Investing in the mental health of rural Kansas communities, families and schools is a long term solution to many problems we face today; lack of mental health services, education equity, poverty, unemployment, substance abuse and more. The Kansas Legislature is working hard to assist overburdened and underfunded Kansas mental health system as we all understand and value the importance of mental health throughout our State. State funding has been dispersed that will help mental health centers expand and improve their services as well as help tackle significant bed reductions in our state hospitals, but the road to mending Kansas’ mental health system will be a long one, and WE have a long way to go!
Although accomplishing significant bed reductions in our state mental health hospitals and expansion of services is critical, we must also continue to look further into long-term sustainable solutions. Compared with a national rate of one provider for every 350 people, Kansas only had one for every 470 people — and experts say the shortfall is particularly dire in rural areas.
Our strong collaborative model and navigation support structure aims to strengthen and support existing programs and centers by listening to our clients and helping them find the best mental health facility to meet their needs. The RVC support model will help provide immediate access to care that helps individuals proactively manage their mental healthcare challenges, obtain critical resources, develop individualized treatment options and establish long-term support that leads to positive long-term health outcomes.
We need your support!
